This 160-acre preserve is on the southern end of Hardwood Hill Island in Graham Lake. The property contains excellent habitat for waterfowl and deer. You will find blueberries, cranberries, and a variety of woodland and bog wildflowers there. The shallow shoreline provides good pull outs, but be careful of the winds and underwater stumps. Graham Lake has good fishing and offers opportunities to observe eagles, osprey and waterfowl. Access is by boat or canoe from the public boat launch in Ellsworth to the north on Graham Lake.
Directions: From the traffic light at Main Street, Ellsworth, take Route 1A north for 1.6 miles. Turn right onto Route 180N and travel 7.6 miles to a slight right onto Route 181N. Travel 3.2 miles and turn right at Morrison Farms Road. Drive for about a mile to the “hand carry” public boat launch. Paddle down the lake to the FBC Preserve on the south end of the island.
