Tom was previously a senior vice president at the National Wildlife Federation, headquartered Reston, Virginia.  Before that, he was a senior vice president at L.L. Bean in Freeport, Maine, where he worked for almost 30 years.  His involvement in conservation includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Appalachian Mountain Club for nine years, where his roles included Chair of the Capital Campaign and President of the Board of Directors.  He also served on the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission and the Non-game Advisory Board for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.  He and his wife, Ellen, and their family reside in Hancock and Belgrade Lakes, Maine.

Joyce was born and raised in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and educated in Virginia and Ohio.  She and her husband live in his ancestral home in Lamoine where they enjoy, among many things, choral music and watching bluebirds.
