Mushroom ID Hike at Indian Point Preserve

Join FBC for a guided mushroom ID hike on Thursday, September 28 at Indian Point Preserve in Ellsworth!

Have you always wanted to dive into the fascinating world of mushrooms, but didn’t know where to start?

On September 28, David Porter, board member of the Maine Mycological Association and editor of the quarterly newsletter Mainely Mushrooms, will be leading a Mushroom ID walk at FBC’s Indian Point Preserve in Ellsworth. Participants will walk the out-and-back trail while David points out and describes the mushrooms encountered along the walk. No prior mushroom knowledge is required — all individuals, from beginner to experienced forager, are welcome.

Trail Description

The trail at Indian Point Preserve is moist and shady for most of the walk down to the point.  The trail from the parking lot to the point and back is .75 mile. There is a scenic view of downtown Ellsworth from the point. The views up and down the Union River make this an ideal spot.

To keep our staff, volunteers, and other program participants safe, please stay home if you have any symptoms consistent with cold. Thank you!

This hike is limited to 12 registrants, so please sign up early!

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Ellie Ezekiel, Director of Communications & Community Engagement, at ellie@frenchmanbay.org.
