Fall Naturalist Hike: Mushrooms, Lichen, & Moss, Oh My!
Explore the Changing Seasons in Downeast Maine
You’re invited to join FBC volunteer and Maine Master Naturalist, Carolyn Ackerman on a fall naturalist hike at Simon Trail in Lamoine. This guided hike will highlight the signs of seasons changing and discuss the different kinds of mushrooms, lichen, & moss found in the fall.
As the weather cools and the leaves begin to fall, Join us to marvel at the fall colors and analyze the life cycles of trees! The Simon Trail is an excellent location for spotting mushrooms, ferns, lichens and moss. The trail is a 1.1 mile loop with an outdoor classroom in the middle, with seating for roughly 20. This walk will take roughly 1.5 hours.
The hike is being led by Lamoine resident Carolyn Ackerman, who is a Maine Master Naturalist with a lifelong interest in the natural world of Hancock County and beyond. She also served over 20 years on the Ellsworth Historic Preservation Commission.
This hike is limited to 12 registrants, so please sign up early! All participants must register individually.
