Know Before You Go
Trail Description: The trail winds through the woods, over bog bridges down to a crest overlooking Card Brook and the Union River. The path continues to the scenic point along the Union River. Once there, you can view downtown Ellsworth, or look across the river, where eagles and ospreys can be seen. The spectacular view of Ellsworth is worth the short hike out to the end of Indian Point. A few picnic tables are available at the end of the trail. It is a 0.3 mile walk to the harbor, totaling at about a mile if you hike the entire trail.
Participants should wear: Sturdy shoes, warm layers for November weather, a hat & gloves.
Consider bringing: a water bottle, a walking stick or trekking poles, and a notebook if you’d like to take notes.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact our Outreach Coordinator, Jane Parlee at jane@frenchmanbay.org.
