Native Plant Guided Hike at Corea Heath
You’re invited to join FBC for a Native Plant Walk!
Join FBC and Master Gardener volunteer Lauren Landers for a walk to learn about the native plants in Corea Heath, a 600-acre property encompassing wetlands, habitat for inland & coastal waterfowl and wading birds, and mixed forests of hardwoods, spruce, fir and jack pines.
We will walk the wooded trail and the bog bridging surrounding the heath as Lauren shares her knowledge on the rare plants and unusual plant communities in this area. We’ll also discuss some of Maine’s lesser-known pollinators that live in forested landscapes, as well as the native woodland plants that attract them. If you want to learn more about pollinators or you have a wooded property that you want to make more pollinator-friendly with shade-loving native plants, this workshop is for you!
Join us to connect with your community members and learn something new about the land we all love. This event is free and open to the public, all are welcome! Participants should be prepared for a 1 mile hike across bog bridging with mild elevation gain and for the event to run for approximately two hours.
*Registration for this event is required and limited. Please submit one registration per person*
Participants should bring: Sturdy / waterproof shoes, warm layers for September weather, a notebook if you’d like to take notes, and plenty of water!
