Rooted Together: A LGBTQ+ Naturalist Walk
Join us for a guided walk to build community with LGBTQ+ people at Jordan Homestead Preserve in Ellsworth and learn about how forest organisms are interconnected!
This walk, in partnership with Frenchman Bay Conservancy, will be led by Maine Outdoor School‘s Pascal Tessier, a Naturalist Educator. Pascal will share his knowledge of ecological relationships, how plants communicate with each other, and similarities between human and plant communities. Come build community while exploring the woods with us right here in Ellsworth. Come to connect, learn something new, and get to know a Frenchman Bay Conservancy trail!
What to expect: Participants should be prepared for a 2-hour event outside, rain or shine, hiking a trail on relatively flat and level ground, taking stops for discussion and activities. The event will be on June 27th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
*This event is for people of all ages, but we do ask that attendees under 18 be accompanied by an adult.*
Registration for this event is required and space is limited! Sign up today to reserve a spot.

Pascal Tessier (He/Him)
Naturalist Educator
Growing up in Maryland right outside the DC border provided Pascal with a strong contrast from where he felt most comfortable: exploring the beauty and mysteries of nature. Pascal grew attached to the lush wilderness of Maine, from his experiences fishing along the coast and jumping into the exhilarating cold to paddling the St. Croix and Allagash rivers, and hiking through the hundred mile wilderness to the top of Katahdin. Finding a sense of purpose in helping others connect to the outdoors led Pascal to earn a bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Leadership from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina. Later working with Outward Bound to take students on growth-focused expeditions was a profound experience and a lesson in wanting to have a bigger impact by having a more consistent and long-lasting relationship with his students. Pascal can often be found exploring hard to reach places, tracking what he finds, and quietly sitting to admire his surroundings.
