Wednesday, September 4th: Volunteer Workday
Want to spend time outdoors? Get your hands dirty? Be part of a hardworking team?
Help FBC build & maintain trails for public use by volunteering on our trail crew.
Our trail crew is led by FBC’s Stewardship Manager, Garrett Black. The crew meets at Tidal Falls Preserve in Hancock at 8:30 AM on workdays to caravan to the worksite, unless otherwise instructed by Garrett. Summer 2024 will be focused on trail rehabilitation projects at Baker Hill in Sullivan, the soon to open Frenchman Bay Community Forest in Hancock, and regular maintenance across our service area.
“Maintenance Mondays” will be for easy trail stewardship, including clearing small branches, cutting back overgrowth, and cleaning up heavily used trails. Beginner friendly. Great for teens looking for summer volunteer hours!
“Workday Wednesdays” will require more physical labor, including helping to carry rocks, bog-bridging, address blow-downs, and other tasks associated with actually building new, sustainable trails.
Volunteer workdays run until 11:30 am.
