The Jordan Homestead Property: an Ellsworth Treasure

At Frenchman Bay Conservancy, Community Conservation is a central part of our work. We have a tremendous opportunity right now, in Ellsworth, to conserve one of the largest parcels along the Union River south of Leonard Lake, only a mile and a half from downtown, at the Jordan Homestead property off of Bayside Road.

There are a number of possible community uses for this land including hiking trails to the Union River and connecting to trails at the Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary (or Birdsacre), community gardens, and  outdoor education – a place where people could learn about history of commerce on the Union River and the agricultural legacy of this land.
