Autumn Trail Race a Success!

November 5, 2017

This year’s Autumn Trail Race once again offered 4-mile and 8-mile options and a total of 72 runners participated in both races.  November 5 was overcast and a bit chilly, but thankfully there was no trace of rain or snow. Jennifer VanDongen of Bar Harbor was the top female finisher in the 4 mile race with a time of 35:00 and Finian Burns of Bass Harbor was the top male finisher in the 4 mile race with a time of 34:45.

Clifford Watson of Bucksport finished first for the men’s division in the 8 mile race (1:06:31) and Jessica Stewart of Bass Harbor was the top female finisher (1:25:44). Read further coverage of the race in this Ellsworth American article.

We were delighted to not only see runners of all ages (from 8 to 69 years old), but entire families competing together and many young runners from area schools, challenging themselves to extend their cross-country running beyond the season.

Organizing a trail race takes a tremendous amount of time, energy, and coordination to ensure runners have a safe and enjoyable experience. THANK YOU to the MANY volunteers who make this event run so smoothly year after!
