Lady Slipper & Wildflower Walk
We’re searching for Lady Slippers!
Join FBC and Maine Master Naturalist, Alice Noyes, at Day Ridges Preserve to search for lady slippers, an elusive wild orchid. The guided hike will be focused on spring ephemerals and will meander through the large lady slipper colony found along the lower trail loop.
Registration for this event is required and limited, please sign up early! All participants must register separately.
What to expect: This walk will follow the lower trail loop until we reach the beaver pond and bog bridge crossing. Prepare for a 2 hour outing with frequent stops and a slower walking pace for scouting wildflowers. This trail is on hard-packed native soil with some sections of narrow bog bridging.
What to bring: plenty of water, sturdy footwear, bug & tick repellent. Consider bringing walking sticks / trekking poles, a bag, and a journal for taking notes.
