Join FBC for a guided Mushroom Hike at Jordan Homestead, during Mushroom Week at Ellsworth Public Library!

Join Mycologist, David Porter for a walk at Jordan Homestead to learn about mushrooms! We will walk the wooded trail and scavenge for mushrooms as David shares his encyclopedic knowledge on the topic.  Come along to connect with your community members and learn something new about the land we all love. This event is free and open to the public, all are welcome!

Meet our Guide

David Porter

This walk is being led by David Porter, a local Maine resident and Mushroom Expert. David studied both at Yale University and the University of Washington, and is an emeritus professor of the University of Georgia with a specialty in mycology. 

Know Before You Go

Participants should wear: Sturdy shoes, warm layers for November weather, a hat & gloves.
Consider bringing: a water bottle, a walking stick or trekking poles, and a notebook if you’d like to take notes.
